What are News Feeds? News feeds are an easy and efficient way to receive notification when a website has new content available. Website visitors can choose the areas of interest they wish to subscribe to, and can unsubscribe from any feed at any point. There are a number of feed formats that the publisher of a website may choose to support. HxDx currently supports RSS 2.0 and ATOM 1.0. RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication. ATOM is another, similar feed format. How Do I Start Using Feeds?First you will need an RSS or ATOM feed reader (also called a news aggregator) which periodically checks all the feeds you have subscribed to, notifies you when content has changed, and allows you to read any new articles that have been added. Feed readers are simply programs that display the contents of an RSS or ATOM feed in an easy to read format. To find a feed reader, use you favourite search engine and look for RSS feed reader or ATOM feed reader. Many feed readers can support both RSS and ATOM, as well as numerous other feed formats. How Do I Subscribe to Feeds?Once you have a feed reader you simply click the feed icon or copy the link to the feed and paste it into your feed reader. The feeds available on the HxDx website are indicated by the following icon, along with the feed format:
